Poems About Ourselves

Postby Trinity » Sun Jan 12, 2003 5:59 pm

Linzay write a poem on the site titled "This Is Me" and I think it was an excellent way to tell about who she is - including all the little quirks and the small things that seem insignificant but really are what hold a person together. I was thinking that perhaps we should all write poems about ourselves in that same way so we can get to know one another better. Some already do, but others not as well.
So, if you want to, reply to this post with a poem about yourself. Even if it is only telling what you are comfortable telling. I will probably write one right now and post it in a few minutes.
Hope I learn about some of you.....

:D

I enjoy sunsets because they are untouchable and pure
I don't like to make decisions if I'm not exactly sure

I crave for love because I have so much of it to give
I do not think we need to search for good reasons to live

I love spicy food - its one of life's little pleasures
I think a loyal friend is something to be treasured

I like to travel to remind myself that culture holds us together
I don't believe that ANY love can push the borders of forever

I am a well behaved girl with a wild streak
I despise it when I am kind - and mistaken for weak

I like to laugh, relax, and sing - read and take long baths
I think we should take the good from every situation in the past

I tend to runaway from those who make me feel uneasy
I appreciate people going out of their way to try and please me

I have and will continue to find happiness through simplicity
I want to live a life that is free from duplicity

hmmm a poem about me...well alright! here goes nothin...

I"m a different kind of person
who many people take for as the quiet one
in the back of the classroom
who never talks to anyone.
I'm a different kind of person
who loves to express herself
in ways that no one would expect
from the quiet one in the back of the classroom
who never talks to anyone.
I'm a different kind of person
who tries to understand life
and its little aspects that no one thinks about,
except for the quiet ones
in the back of the classroom
who never talk to anyone.
I'm a different kind of person
who knows what other's seem to forget in life;
the things that people try to dismiss
as unimportant and insignificant, all the while
stereotyping the quiet one
in the back of the classroom
who never talks to anyone.
I'm a different kind of person
who likes to observe people
and figure out why they don't like
the quiet one in the back of the classroom
who never talks to anyone.
Hmm...maybe that's why...
Because I don't talk to anyone...
I'm just a different kind of person.

:D

i crave for imortality,
to learn about diffrenct aspects of reality,
to look up at the stars,
and wonder if they are truely there...

i howl to the moon,
and sit there and wait for it to howl back.
i love only for the reason im afriad of being alone.
or maybe i just have to much to hold.

darkness seems to be my sanctuary,
light seems to burn my eyes,
with the unknown i like to dance,
and with confusion i will die.

im just a blind man
sitting there in the corner watching everyone,
a gargole upon the old cathredal
watching over its passerbys,
im just a shadow
playing with the light,
and a tear
in the eyes of those hurt.

im the sunlight in some,
the darkness in others,
yet once they embrace me,
well "you'll" never know..

I always do the best that I can
I can forgive myself for who I am
I watch all the mistakes that the world makes
complicating things, when love is all it takes

I have a big body that houses a large heart
I'd give you the world or at least a large part
I'm not easily walked on as I used to be
I learn from mistakes and think love is the key

I live life on the road going all over the place
It doesn't bother me a lot, for the life I taste
I love to travel, there's so much to see
lots of people to meet and I like to feel free

I am a peace maker, and a true friend
I will never be the one to stab your back in the end
Let by gones be by gones and the past in the past
I believe all bad stuff will eventually pass

I can't stand fake people who don't have a clue
I don't go to work and there's still too much to do
people love me or hate me with no inbetween
you will rarely, if ever, see me creating a scene

I love my husband who likes having me around
And I often wonder, if my mind is sound
I lived a full life and am secure with who I am
I'm good under pressure, when I get in a jam

I'm dependable, yet late and believe in fate
i'm not always neat, my house is always a state
I'm a lover of nature admiring beauty of all kinds
I don't trust the government, and think freedom it binds

I love animals. and kids (shh won't admit it)
I wear tye dye t-shirts and like clothes over fitted
I laugh and I giggle and love to have fun
Okay I think that covers it, so now I guess am done

- Becky

hehe that was kind of fun :)

Interesting topic...well here goes...can't hide who I am forever!! :D

This is Me! :D

When I was young I was quiet and shy
didn't say much, but used my eyes!
Now I've reached a more confident stage
which came from experience that's gained with age.

I have my own thoughts, and let people know
but try to be polite, even so.
Not giving away the age, I'd rather not be
I still feel young inside you see.

Found the love of my life and been married some years
facing life's struggles together, knowing each other cares.
Two sons, now left home, sad to see them gone,
-it's known as `Empty Nest Syndrome'

My eldest is autistic, now doing alright,
but when things go wrong for him, I'm ready to fight!
Although he's caused some problems and strife,
I'm so proud of the progress he's made in his life.

My youngest is at Uni, - a really bright spark!
when he left home recently, he took a piece of my heart.
Sometimes we are just son and mother,
other times we are friends, talking to each other.

When things go wrong, I'm easily stressed,
often end up feeling depressed.
Yes, I do have some regrets in my life,
no good dwelling on the past though, try get the future right!

People find me caring, because I listen,
I'm easily touched, tears making eyes glisten.
My true friends are few,but those I can treasure,
They are prepared to support me, not there just for pleasure.

I try to be tidy, but often create clutter,
When the doorbell goes then, "Oh dammit!", I mutter.
I love my snakes and lizards!- some think I'm mad!
But looking after these little creatures help if I'm sad.

I like to look `cool', despite my age
but hope I avoid that `mutton dressed as lamb' stage
Although my thoughts are young, my body feels confused,
with aching joints, with the years they've been used.

Started writing poems a short while ago
to express feelings that I couldn't always show.
Well I could go on .......and on......and on
I've said enough! Let's hear from the next one! :D

VERY GOOD TOPIC Me
Well I have a sense of humour.
Three years ago they found a brainstem tumour.
Always running from people and the past.
Never made things last.
Now I'm kind ,always was but more understanding now.
Never found out what I liked, never knew how.
Since my tumour operation found out lifes to short.
All the working ,running, worrying didn't help.
Can't work or run but still worry about my health.
The way I try to think is not feel sorry for myself.
I'm lucky I have no pain, talk and walk different.

Thank-ful for all that I do have. I've been called stubborn and
unrealistic.
I call it being optimistic :)
