Postby Dreamer » Sat May 17, 2003 12:26 am

Lets write poems on topic.. I will pick a topic. Close your eyes for a moment and think about the topic and... write a poem about that topic.

Friday I will pick the poem I like best and that person can pick the next topic.. then the following Friday they will pick the one they like best and that person gets to choose and so on... It's just for fun :)

This Weeks Topic....

Lonely Scraper

Can you imagine touching the sky
Or watching down from way up high
Can you imagine kissing the sun
Or being the reason the clouds part open

Seeing miles and miles
As far as the eye can see
Watching in awe
All of the worlds beauty

Can you imagine being so strong
But at the same time so weak
And can you imagine standing so proud
Through everday of the week

Watching for miles and miles
Life grow all around
Listening to everything
Every beautiful sound

Can you imagine just standing there
With everyone able to look in
And can you imagine always standing while night falls
And always waiting, awake, for the day to begin

I may witness a lot of beauty
And may have watched as the world's grown
I may be constantly recognized
But I'm somehow still so alone

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure it could have been happier and stuff...but this has been how most of my poems have been lately....which i guess is why i haven't sent any in recently.....
This probably isn't what you meant but this is what I got when I thought about skyscrapers:
Heightened Fears
High above in the clouds
A place to be free with your dreams,
escaping the rushing, destructive world below
the breeze blowing as the moon gleams,
the beauty of the stars, feeling so near
the closer to the edge, the less remaining fear,
I look down to see the hectic life below
everyone one going about the duties,
I scan the horizon and the last particle of sunset
an unbelieveable view of beauty,
as the darkness surrounds the sky
I begin to feel scared and alone, I cry,
Closer to the edge of the scraper
overwhelmed from the height,
Painful emotions take to the wind
the wings spread like the night,
as my soul flies off this building so tall
no control left, life no more, I fall!!
The only true source of inspiration, is to be an inspiration.
There is No More Inspiration!!
skyscaper
like a sleeping giant just waiting for its time,
standing so tall, im alone in this site,
with humans running through my veins,
they tickle me yet silent i remain.
the sky blankets my head,
the moon will kiss me to the end,
the wind embraces me like a friend,
and the people below me feel so small compared to me.
with my glassy dress on,
i feel that i have won,
the most beatiful one,
in all the city.
but then the rain comes,
no where to run,
yet my dress is as glassy as it was in the morning...
Here's my attempt! :D
Like Scrapers We Are
We reach out to the sun
Like scrapers do
Towering over one another
Searching for meaning
In an unending sea
That is you and me.
Lifeless and cold outside
Like scrapers are
Seeming to not care
Trying to reach out
In the faceless, nameless sea
That is humanity.
Full of wisdom over the years
Like scrapers always have been
Withstanding the test of time
Going wth the flow
In this chaotic mire
That is our world.
Now I stand tall and proud
Like scrapers will be
Knowing that within the bowels
Lying in the very heart
Is hope and peace and love
That is LIFE!
skyscrapers:
i am not like most bulidings
i like to stand out
i love to be tall
because people admire me
whwn people look at the buliding next to me,
they say its not that tall
but when they look at me
they have a look of glee!
i have a lot of self confedence
even though im huge,
i look like a giant
the giant with out the bean stock
my eyes are made of windows
my mouth is made of a door.
you cant see me smiling
even though i am
i like when people walk inside of me
because it makes me feel wanted.
people take pictures of me
so i know i will always be around
even if i crash and burn.
i will never frown!
A Beautiful Site
The heart and soul of the skyscraper are the millions of people who
keep it alive day by day.
Its often lonely at the top.
But in this case, the skyscraper has many eyes staring at its gleaming exterior.
When the wind blows it doesnt budge.
When the rain falls it wont take cover.
When nightfall comes it stays awake.
Watching over the city as it sleeps.
The skyscraper stands firm and proud.
It's a beautiful site from blocks and miles away.
Towering above us, it stretches towards the sky.
Often reaching the clouds.
Shaken Scraper
Tall I stand, proud and in my full glory,
all eyes on me, and I love the attention.
Ah, the wind!
The breeze is lovely, I'm comfy up here,
all in my glory.
Wait, a noise, and a shaking I perceive!
It's coming faster, faster, and I hate the feeling.
Oh, the pain!
The hurting of my glass breaking,
this shaking I perceive.
My, I'm falling now, becoming short!
I'm going down, down, and I see the destruction.
No, please stop!
The lovely city view is disappearing,
while all the time I'm becoming short.
And now, I'm on the ground, ruined.
I'm no longer the tallest, nor the proudest.
Well, that's life!
The city will have to do without me,
the quaker has the scraper ruined.
