A Dad, Always # 1 In A Son & Daughters Life by Terrie*

to all you Fathers out there
i want to extend
a hand , a sincere hug
and my heart filled with love

you are the foundation
that adds structure and respect
you are the rock
that protects from every crashin' wave
you are the shelter
an umbrella from every storm

if you are a single parent
i admire you
for your never endin' support
in balancin' life
with showerin' with quality time
as you know money is only materialistic
time spent builds memories
of castles and dreams that come true

sometimes life isn't fair
and you feel cheated
until we look before us
and we see our rewards

this i know
cause i have been there
when i was handed the father role
yet i knew more
of how to be a mom
i wasn't handed a manual
on how to be a dad

they grow so rapidly, before our eyes
to all fathers whom have been laid to rest
we honor you still today

love for a father
from a son or a daughter
is an eternal thing

i cain recall the many times
i often tried to play the role of dad
not an easy task

i cain remember when my son was 9 years old
his first mitt fell apart durin a game
with family and friends
i replaced the lacin'
with a shoe lace from my own tennis shoes
so that he could get back into the game
he gave me this look amazin' look
as if he was starin' at an Angel standin' there
amd a tear rolled down from his eye
that look ,really tore me apart

it wasn't that he was embarased
later in life he shared
that was something his dad would of done
and he felt moved

he felt a tear from a boy was not something
he should do if he wanted to be like his dad
i reassured him a man can cry
it doesn't point to a weakness
it points to a strength
and that strength
is called "LOVE"

so for all you fathers
your always
number one in your sons and daughter's life

i cain only imagine
how much harder it must be
tryin' to be mom to your daughter when your her dad

even through your absence you still hit a home run

Happy Father's Day to ALL you Dads.may you always hear these words "I LOVE YOU DAD" may you get that long due phone call from far away,may you be rewarded w/a massage, a single red rose on your pillow and breakfast in bed...and much much more...along with you i too will be celebratin' that day as a Mommie-Dad..to my Daughter & Son.
