Eagles Kill The Dove, Feed Them To Their Young

Author: ShyHeart
Clear blue sky, nothing but the sun, have babies to feed
As I dart from corn fields to a watering pond for a little drink
My babies will have full tummies tonight as I take flight again
Head for our home, a eagle sees me, she has young of her own
A mother's heart takes care of her own, she does what must be done
My little Doves at home, will never fly as I intended, yet, there is love
One day an eagle flies high above and sees a dove, down below
The eagle starts to dive, fresh food for her young, upon the table
Suddenly, the eagle stops the killing dive and just flies away
The Dove in fright, heads for home and feeds her young
A tiny nest, that contains all her heart, she made it home
As the eagle, stops the killing dive, just flew away
Could it be, the food of life, was not in the eagle's eye
Is it possible that the young she must feed came from
Another time, when another mother died, so she could live
Have children of her own, this mother dove will not die
The eagle flies back to her nest of children and says
Tonight, you may be hungry, that is the way it is
I'll not take a life, that my mother gave to me
That dove was the child, my mother killed for me
Now, I survive and I thank the children of that mother dove
So, this time, I let one dove fly back home to her children
Tomorrow will be another day, you will be fed, but not by this dove
You are my children and I love you, sometimes, food is love
The eagle sailed away, wings kissing the clouds and the sun rays
The eagle flew away, so happy to be alive and remembered
When its mother came home with the fresh meat of a mother dove
This eagle grew up strong, with a hungry heart's memory
