Today I'm Going To 'win' Inside
1 December, 2006

vinebar

A life now crippled with daily pain,
Every movement worse than just before,
A courage seen within your eyes,
Eyes that wince while welling up pain,
Today please forget my pain

A man I see now gathering age,
Once free as a bird now trapped in this shell,
His mind still free and young to the thought,
Still trying to see when the boy became him,
Moving slowly so not to hurt,
Moving knowing this pain too will pass,
Today please forget my pain

Writing his stories for the young in us all,
Never to be stopped by the pain inside,
Sharing my thoughts with tears sometimes,
That others will see we stay young inside
Today please forget my pain

So forget today’s pain and remember days passed,
Today I’ll fall into those leaves raked clean,
I’ll walk on the ice knowing I’ll fall,
And sit on my butt laughing out, like we all once did,
If snow should fall deep and crisp,
I’ll be there making angels again,
Today please forget my pain

Although it will still be inside trying to win,
Today I’m going to forget this pain,
Today I’m going to win inside

What can I say!
A very insightful feeling of age!
I can truly relate to this splendid writing.
It is laid down beautifully as the threshold builds.

sorry for your pain you have

This expresses so much, I loved it.As long as we stay young in our mind, by remembering and writing what once was,we have to say so my body is aging I put it through hell when I was young, but had fun doing it.

strong

description of aging process and how one can triumph with a sense of courage and determination. Written with conviction. I think it's important to see past one's exterior, and see the whole person. Thanks for the reminder. The world would be a better place if more people were able to do so. Great poem. Inspiring!
