I Am Sorry For Loving You

I

I am sorry for loving you
That my timing seemed always to be wrong
And I know not which is the greater sin
To love someone whom I cannot be with
Or to hide that love, to deny even to myself
That such a love ever exists
And how does one deal with unrequited love
Should it be brushed aside
To be swept from the soul
As readily as cookie crumbs from the table cloth
And yet, how can I change the things I Feel
Or, better yet
Why would I want to

II

Which I wonder is the better
To lay awake at night sleepless
Trying desperately to convince one’s self
That the love felt within is an illusion
Or to lay awake at night sleepless
Trying desperately to find courage,
Enough to dare to say to one’s self
What, If

III

What if, for one fleeting moment
I could, in her eyes be
That man which I know within me exists
And in daring to do so finding within me
The strength, for her sake,
To strive to be that man
And thus,
Becoming all that ever she longed for

IV

I am sorry for loving you
But not being able take away your pain
I was not able share with you the love you so deserve
Or to comfort you with a warm embrace
I know there is nothing left to say
Too late, someone has taken my place
So, what then is there left to do
And though, my tears show not outwardly
My heart weeps within me bitterly
And even now I cry out silently for you
I miss you, I love you.

V

I am sorry for loving you

------- Author's Notes -------

I hope you all enjoy this one. I sat down and thought about Unrequited love and then wrote what ever came to mind. The roman numerals separate the changes in thought I was having. I hope you like it.

Another great write !!

This is a very beautiful expression of emotions which I feel, and probably most people feel when in the situation of unrequited love. I can't even forget my first teenage crushee. It's been 51 years. I can't forget any of the subsequent ones either.
Terrye got it right with her comments. She says it better than I can.
All I can say is that it reads like it was written by a fine writer, and so it was.
Be Well,
Bipe

early last year...

you commented on one of my poems that moved you... i would like to steal your words from that comment and return them to you on this piece of written artwork of yours...

"Wow...I wish I had the words that would be worthy of praise of this poem... outstanding... amazing...I just don't know what else to say. Keep writing, Ing..."

peace... your words are worthy of a museum.
