Not The Man I'm Looking For
5 September, 2008

I came home from work
To find her standing in the hall
She didn’t have to say a word.
Her suitcase said it all
As she walked away,
She turned and looked at me
And the words that she spoke
Still haunt me in my dreams
I just stood there listening
As tears fell from my eyes
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
Her love had been all lies
She told me she had found someone else
That brought joy to her heart
And she said that she was sorry
For tearing my world apart
She said you’re not the man I’m looking for
And you never will be
And I don’t love you anymore
So it’s best that I leave.
She said I’ve done everything
To try to make myself love you
But there’s no use in trying
If a love just can’t be true.
So she turned and walked away
And left me standing all alone
With a heart breaking madly
For a love so quickly gone.
