This wordless libretto made the highbrows weep
as the Hollering opera took a cultural leap
with a weary farmer who was losing sleep
when yelling in vain for his wayward sheep!

--

Considered by many as too obsence
Scorsese adapted it for the silver screen
as a nasty slice by those who mean
grievous harm to Singer and his sewing machine.

--

The Spanish Inquisition searched high and low
for audience members row by row
who were unprepared and certainly didn't know
that art imitated life in this Broadway show!

--

The 'Communist Manifesto' made a revolutionary claim
in its zany adaptation to the cinematic frame
as the depiction of class struggle provided some larks
courtesy of Groucho, Harpo and Karl Marx!

--

Breaking News: Adam and Eve!
From this garden they had to leave.
A rocky start for women and men.
On the spot coverage by CNN!
