A Sense Of Doubt: Poems 1 To 5
12 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Happy Hour can be the lowest point of the day
when I sit here and listen to the jukebox play
and now at closing time it only leads to proof:
Sad songs always speak of the glacial truth!
--
As a work in progress the comma isn't clear
and the period would prefer to stop right here
but the question mark still retains the most clout
by punctuating our thoughts with fear and doubt!
--
Doubting Thomas was a cautious man.
Doubting Thomas had a backup plan
but Doubting Thomas ate too much bran
and no longer doubting he got up and ran!
--
His shadow is in hiding from a suspect
who is losing touch and can no longer connect
when guilt by association is the reason to defect
from this man who sadly lacks self-respect!
--
5,000 years of men in charge:
The report is in and the damage is large
because history didn't think he should defer
to common sense and someone like her!
