The Damned Have Not Taken This Well: 5 Poems
2 June, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
His decapitated head washed up on the shore
just like his torso did a few days before
and now the dental records know the score
of what really happened to poor Daniel Orr!
--
She cannot keep to her side of their bed.
Her husband just shakes his weary head
for a woman who is a restless spirit instead
and resides where the living fear to tread!
--
Out of habit every morning on the diving board.
A dip before breakfast in a routine adored
but he lays bleeding at the bottom like a fool.
Someone has secretly drained his swimming pool!
--
For services rendered but still unpaid
the gigolo returned and the widow prayed
her poison would have a detrimental affect
on his ability to remember he came to collect!
--
The ghost of Macbeth took to the stage
full of fury with the war men wage.
He picked the wrong production and appeared overwrought
of having to sing like the king in 'Camelot!'
