This Wall Around My Stubborn Mind: 5 Poems
7 July, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
With my faith blindsided and now destroyed
I enter the oblivion feeling jilted and annoyed.
All the atheists are laughing and no doubt overjoyed
that I've finally accepted their big black void!
--
A postcard arrived the other day
as the sincerity of the writer seemed to betray
a change of heart that he was willing to convey
and in the clouds with angels the atheist did lay.
--
As you teeter with uncertainty on shaky ground
viable solutions are lost and seldom found
by adding to your daily worry with a regret
that life is temporary but never set!
--
The devil utilized his craft and impeccable skill
to thaw out the non-conformist's inimical chill
as temptation, you see, is a vicarious thrill
and everyone has a price which defeats their will!
--
When you screw up there's a self-help guide
and reassuring to know we're on your side
but in everyday practice hype has always lied
so don't blame us if our theories died!
