She still has confetti in her hair
with a presence which leaves a chill in the air
and a posthumous agenda caressing the doom
of a bride who is searching for her groom!

The mummified body is buried in the barn.
The farmer holds back from spinning a yarn
so he does not tell and cannot show
what landed in his field all those years ago!

---

The meat seems sweeter closer to the bone.
It's a shame that I have to dine alone
but the evidence is disappearing from my plate.
She was an acquired taste and this is her fate.

---

The mynah bird took note and remembered it all
when old Aunt Betsy had a nasty fall.
"Please don't hurt me I'm having my tea!"
as he mimicked the desperation of hearing her plea.

---

From the corner of his mouth came a smirk.
To the undertaker it was just a quirk
and in the parlor they all thought he was dead
unaware of the narcolepsy in his head!
