This Relentless Search For Viability: 5 Poems
27 December, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
The judgment comes down on that very day
when everyone has a price or so they say
but elusive is the man who can be bought
possessing the last original thought!
---
This pop song was presented with subliminal rhyme
although nobody knew it at the time
and those who listened were overcome by fate
by contributing to the rapidly increasing birth rate!
---
As we grow up we never seem to learn
so life always gives you another turn
when your hand goes in but never too far
by getting caught red-handed in the cookie jar!
---
I set sail again and my spirit soars
by returning once more to these distant shores
and the girl I left behind must be brave
to receive this message from beyond the grave!
---
"We've come for your Beatles" the alien voice did say
"so bring all four and get out of the way!"
They sacrificed Paul and Ringo too
but it was a little late for the other two!
