The Mind Is A Fortress Against An Emotional Siege: 5 Poems

Her last words were strangled without a choice.
The nephew in question raised his voice.
In terms of pathology he was an emotional wreck
with his graduation tie around Aunt Mimi's neck!

-------

Happiness is fleeting and cannot bring
solace to the bluebird with the broken wing
and yet it's hope in which we cling
as this world still dangles by a string!

-------

With the Pacific Ocean in their sight
Lewis and Clark began to fight
over who would be the first to own
this view sent home on a camera cellphone!

-------

She tasted the bitter in the sweet.
A tingle so sharp paralyzed her feet
and violent gagging was not discreet
for his mistress poisoned in defeat.

-------

Consciousness was aware of its singular voice
but intellect provided the only choice
and if fear threatened to rule the heart
the mind stepped in to do its part!

You made me feel a tingle!

The imagery in the second stanza is brilliant: the broken wing and the world dangling by a string. I liked it and also liked the 4th stanza. Very strong words "bitter in the sweet" and "tingle so sharp". Excellent contrast and imagery here also. Good write.
