Happiness

Author: C. Scott
Happiness is a fleeting idea
Sometimes you seem happy but aren't
Sometimes you don't seem happy but you are
Only you know how you feel and what part happiness plays in it
You can fool the world into thinking you are happy
But you can't fool yourself
And, at the end of the day,
It's just you staring back from the mirror
Not everyone in life gets to be happy...
Some people get happiness in short spurts
That last only for a moment and then are gone
Some people find true happiness
And it lasts a lifetime
The Constitution promises, "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness",
Not the promise of happiness
Just because you think you deserve happiness does not mean you will find it
Happiness is not promised to everyone,
Just something we can all strive for
Should happiness be defined by what you have
Or who you are with?
Or, should happiness be derived
Just from being
That is a question only you can answer for yourself
No one else can determine what you truly need for happiness
Can you live with what you have and find happiness in that,
Or do you need to change to find the happiness you are looking for?
Start by looking within yourself to figure out if you are happy
And, if not,
What will it take to get you there?
If it is within your power,
What are you waiting for?
If it is not within your power,
Maybe you need to rethink
What it is that will make you happy
Or redefine what happiness really means to you
