I see your photographs,
and I see smiles and love and family
and trust and happiness.
Those are all beautiful things,
and the fact that they show
so evidently in the photographs
is such wonderfully overpowering
and emotional thing...
it is good to have friends and family
and the smiles and the enjoyment of their company.
but I am happy for you that you have that.
I don’t have such things –
all of my family,
other than my wife and sons,
are long gone,
and we never did those kinds of things,
the gatherings together, anyway.
Had I ever experienced such things,
then maybe my memories of my youth
would be things to remember with smiles.
It is nice to see your photographs, Luis –
nice to see that you enjoy life and family and friends.
I can only imagine how that must be.
But I imagine that it is nice.
I would hug you if I could, my friend.
And I am thankful that I may call you my friend.
