I Look For A Sign

In the black velvet night
after the harvest moon and the lunar eclipse
and the image of Saturn have faded,
I draw apart the curtains of darkness
to step deeper inside the nighttime.
Here is where I cannot see,
yet things are clear,
where answers may come as
dazzling, coloured, flowered patterns
zooming towards me
pulling their shapes from nothingness and
lunging at me with
I have to step back.
I gasp for air.
Yet, I am not conscious of my breathing.
My hands tingle.
I wait here for answers.
I am fearful of asking questions.
You pick up my words as you would pick wild flowers.
I pick up yours as hundreds of white rose petals
fall through the air
now that I care,
I look for a sign,
