Fear
1 November, 2002

vinebar

Chained by my fears,
Bound closely to pain.
The cutting metal sears,
As I fight, yet fail to gain.

Struggling to free my soul,
Helplessly, to win control,
To shatter links built to defend,
Deceptive links that only rend.

For freedom I direly long,
Though it is I who keeps the links strong,
I, who feeds the fears within,
I, who commits this self-defeating sin.

But until I can open up to both pleasure and pain,
In the grip of my fears I will indefinitely remain.

Fear of worthlessness, hurt, failure -- rejection.
Own me.
