Part & The Rest
Author: Maranda Berkley

Two strangers holding each other close
What are they thinking
Only they will know
He asks her to just listen
And tell him what she feels
She holds tight
Fighting with God to make this real
She won't say a word
Her mind stumbles through all thoughts
She just avoids what she can
The issue being fought
Inside she knows
Inside her heart beats
And its rhythm tells a story
A soft hum it sings
She feels peaceful
It's so close to feeling nothing at all
But just as it almost disappears
A sudden rush comes back so strong
And then she feels everything
All moves the boy makes
Every beat of his heart against hers
All of his drawn in breaths
She feels a soft breeze
That would have chilled her on any other night
But in his arms with her head on his shoulder
It feels just right
She closes her eyes and sees nothing but him
Everything goes away
Except for her and this man
And she feels content
She feels so at ease in the comfortable silence
Like she can't even speak to break the mood
Not even to say "I found what I'm looking for, finally"
And she feels a part of her who doesn't want to let go
Who doesn't want to have to get up
And sleep in a bed alone
And somehow he senses this
He raises his eyes to kiss her forehead
And says "You're right,
A part of you doesn't want you to go away
I am your other half
And here is where the rest of you should stay"

------- Author's Notes -------

Trust is an issue, but communication is the key.
You asked me what I felt and now I wish you'd tell me
