If Only You Could Have Stayed, But Thank You Anyway
Author: Shorty

If only you knew how very much you meant to me,
If only you knew how deep my love ran,
If you only knew how much I cared,
If only you knew how much I yearned to just see you again,
If only I could give my life, and I'd be with you once more.
If only I could look into your sparkling, pure blue eyes.
If only I could spend just one more moment anywhere with you,
maybe my tears would feel revived,
My heart would be rekindled,
If only your body could never leave,
Even though your love has not.
If only my scars deep inside would heal,
the last piece of you I hold here still.
You will always be remembered,
And my love for you will always linger,
If only god had known I was made for you,
Some scars from battle are hard to regret,
and even harder to forget.
If only God knew all of the plans we'd made,
I know he would have let you stay.
If only he knew how lost and lonely I'd be right now,
He wouldn't have given me the love I'd had,
Just to take it all away.
But my scars and wounds are worth it,
I would have spent my whole life looking for someone just like you.

------- Author's Notes -------

Have you ever loved someone so much, that when you lost them it hurt to think about them,
but not thinking about them hurt too?
