Do You Like To Dunk Your Biscuits?

( Then don't do it at Grandma's! )

Do you like to dunk your biscuits
In your coffee or your tea?
Do you like that certain texture
Soft but not mushy?

If you dunk it for too long
Your biscuit will break up
And leave a nasty mess
At the bottom of your cup

One day visiting Grandma
My son just a small boy
Dunked his biscuit in his tea
But this brought him no joy

`Don't do that dear' Grandma smiled
`It's rather rude' she said
`Well mummy does it sometimes'
I felt myself go red

She had thought me sophisticated
Now she knew the truth about me
But I bet when she's alone
She dunks her biscuits in her tea

I think you may call biscuits cookies in USA

I think this is a cute poem. I didn't know dunking was unsophitiscated. I'm a dunker, so no class but,hey
good everyday living. good writing.

I thought the point was to be unsophisticated...

I mean, isn't that the appeal of the whole thing? Plus, if your cookie/biscuit is too crisp, like a ginger snap, it softens it so you don't have crumbs and stuff. Although, the sludge at the bottom of the cup is kinda nasty...

Thank you for your comments. This poem was written about a time when we visited my mother-in- law, who has her own set of standards!!!...enough said! I was young then and more `sensitive' to what people thought of me. Now! I don't care!....read my latest poem `I'm rebel'....you'll see what I mean.

PB sandwhiches in choc milk, will have to try that one.....time to start living!! Hahaha!! Wonder what my mother -in- law would think! LOL!!
