Uncle Dear:
Author: Meridian Zuriel

vinebar

You say you love me
But yet you fail to show some sign
You say you care for me
But your words aren’t worth a dime
I need to see some action
I need to feel compassion
Don’t just tell me what I want to hear
Prove to me that you’re really sincere

We only see each other once or twice a year
It shouldn’t take a funeral or a holiday, to bring us near
Christmas is approaching; so let’s have good cheer
Though you’re my uncle, it still feels a little weird
You’re family, but yet you seem like a stranger
Our relationship has already been endangered
You’re always on-the-go, when all of us come to visit you
Every time we come home, you only stay for a minute or two

Let this upcoming New Year be a new beginning for us
Let the old things burn up, while the new things develop
Let us be much closer than what we used to be
Please open your ears and listen to your only niece
I love you, but I don’t have time to voice the words
You’re always leaving, so how will I ever be heard?
So, when I come visit you and grandma, please say you’ll stay awhile
Let’s not only make this holiday worthwhile, but let’s end it in smiles

I’m tired of frowning every Christmas!

Crying "Uncle"?

thanks Meri for a moving thoughtful piece and hope your uncle hears the words...makes me think of too many times of having to be away from my family traveling too far...for work to get them material things when all they wanted was Dad there with them....not today....thanks Meri from an Uncle Jerry....maybe part of our extended family of poets?

Merie does it again

Fact or fiction, it's time to end,
Life is for living,
Life is to short for fighting,
You write so well my friend
;-)

Hello kind gentlemen!

J Freedom Long-----You're very welcome, and thank you in return! Yep, it wouldn't hurt for all of us to show a little affection from time to time! I'm guilty of this myself. I have to practice saying it to some of my family, even though I do show it. So maybe my fictional uncle and I can exchange feelings. Thanks again for your wonderful input J Freedom Long! I am thrilled to know that you took the time out of your schedule to read this poem!
Clive--You make me laugh! You say my fiction needs to end eh? I can't help it, it's become part of my reality. Perhaps I'm a little sick in the mind, or suffering from some mental illness, because fiction seems almost real. Once you replace your real emotions with pretended emotions, it becomes part of one's nature; well, at least to me. I hate the perils of this life, and the disadvantages, so I write about fictional things that we experience in real life, it's like an escape route to what I used to feel, or what I'm feeling. I hope I didn't sound to complicated! But I just want to express my gratitude! Thanks Clive for understanding!
Smiley face, Meri

Merie My friend,
To say you are complex is not the way I would have said,
To say you have a different view on life,
Well thats the Merie we know and love,
You write so well just keep doing the way that comes best,
Fiction or fact you have my eyes read every line
;-)

Courteous Clive is Charismatic!!

Well, thank you very much poetic buddy! I tried to explain it in Lamen's terms as best I could; it's good to know I've succeeded! Thanks again! Fiction is the key to the poetic door! Smiley face, Meridian

You are a good writer!

You are a good writer with a gift, to be able to write about a fiction topic. Maybe you can write a book also? I enjoy reading all your poems. Thanks Meridian for sharing.
