The Memories Are All We Have Left
12 February, 2005
Author: Megan
I remember one night in particular
that involved raspberry bacardi and wine
we drove around in that car
and ended up at a grave yard, the mood was divine
we drove around that empty pavement
and I sang that song, without feeling dumb
the world seemed perfect, not harsh or ignorant
but now when I hear that song, I feel numb
later on that night
we went back to your place
drank some more in the TVs dim light
not worrying about saving face
I ended up crashing in your bed
and you snuck me back home
and dreams of you burned warmly in my head
and what would come of us, was left unknown
but now this is only a memory, a story
and i know the ending
I've felt love's fury
and my heart is still in the process of mending
that was the best night of my life I'm sure
of these 17 years I've been alive
the memories are all we have left, and they are pure
I'll never forget that graveyard, song, love, or that long drive
------- Author's Notes -------
I've heard it's better to have been in love than to have never loved at all, and I believe that is true. |

jim (64.12.116.197) -- Thursday, February 17 2005, 04:31 am meg, i'm sure it was a highlight but there's plenty more where that came from..if you think about it at the age of ten, there were plenty of "highlights" at that time...but when we look back they pale in comparison to the present...lets see what you think about today when you're 21 ...excellent writing...keep it up |
