they didn't expect
silence beyond the door
they were waiting
and hoping to be greeted
with a hug and a smile
instead they got there among a yellow tape scene

they walked in upon his death
his wife left him for someone new
he didn't want to hurt with so much pain
he let her go
so she could be happy with her new bo
he promised his friends he was going to be ok
but there was something in his voice
his friends detected from far away
they called for help to meet them there
they were too late...
what was found was a letter he left to his 7 year old son

Dear Son,
I apologize for what I have just done
I confesss to you
I tried.. so many times to stop...i really tried
but the anger and rage boiled in my blood
i was afraid i might hurt someone
so i had to put the pain up on myself
with my own gun
I know it was a cowards way out
I didn't want to face the ridicule and the shame
I apologize my son for the pain
I created for you my one and only
for now you must face that ridicule and shame
you will never understand
I do not ask you to try
I loved your mom so much
I would of died slowly
watching her love another man
if I would of survived ..
I would of caused you and her more harm
by you reading this I know I am not alive..
i figure you are much older now
and perhaps you have fallen to your knees
this doesn't justify what I have done
bringing pain to you
as well as shame
the biggest thing I worried the most about
but please feel the remaining of my heart beat within your own..I love you son
Love Dad

it was a three hour drive
they got there way too late
he was no longer alive
