When It Hurts
6 August, 2000
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

I sit by quietly reading your heart
Wishing I could take away your pain
Your hurt seems so overwhelming
And your sadness seems such a strain

I know there is nothing I can do to help
But to listen as a well as I can
To hold your hand and comfort you
And try to understand

And if by chance you need me
To talk with and share your pain
I promise I will be here to listen
Your heart's words will not be said in vain

So when it hurts you inside and out
And it seems you see no end
Know that there is someone who
Will listen unconditionally as a friend

------- Author's Notes -------

Sometimes just listening without judgement is the best thing you can do

I think this poem has a wonderful meaning to it because of the fact that I want to be there for the one person I love more than anything in this world and I want to listen to what ever he has to say and I want to care for him like I always have.

Me "n" my best friend go through tough times!

I LOVE this poem, it reminds me of how I am there for my friend and in return he is there for me, and lately things have happened where I have questioned our friendship, but this helped it, it made me realize we need eachother, THANK YOU!!!!!!

a friends pain

You have written a very heartfelt poem. I have a cousin (more like a sister) That has just had a misscarige and I know what she is feeling because I have been there myself. She has called several times to talk, and I just think that you have written a beautiful poem that can really touch many people. Thanks
