Irreplaceable Heart
25 April, 2005
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

There is no price you can put on this pain
What you have inflicted has not been in vain
How dare you treat me with such disregard
To destroy my heart I ask "was it hard?"

I trusted you
Sentimentality told
I shared with you anyway
How could you be so destructively cold

No apologies
Just "how much due I owe"
For destroying my heart
What price pays the toll?

Disgusted, angry
Hurt beyond belief
Betrayed and angered
What did I do to deserve this grief

Price... you speak price?
For what you have done
Destroying an antiquity
You jest; is it a pun

Or do you actually regret
What cannot be undone
The price of my heart
Was the cost of your fun

------- Author's Notes -------

My husband's nephew I trusted with a beloved antique guitar returned it to me ruined scarred and broken. One of only 200 made it is irreplaceable, in more ways than one.
