I Wish I Could Have That Feelin' Back

went to the old neighborhood to day
went to feel the happiness that i once knew there
went to feel the presence of the man that was my life

everybody was all new
when we lived there
it was a small community of elderly folks
that watched my kids grow
and took care of us when my husband was not home
many had died and moved on
just as my husband did
others moved away
to a better place

i got permission from the family
of the home we once lived in

i touched the tree he planted
i could see him plantin' it
as if he was standin' in front of me
i sat on the porch swing
i could feel him lay my head
on his shoulder as he sang me a song
i touched and felt the post
where he carved our name

i sat at the ditch where
he and his buddy canine would wade in late at night
i cain vision both of them playin'
i'd see him pettin' his buddy
and huggin' him for bein' so faithful

i cain see him splashin' water at me
i loved that feelin' i felt
more than anythin'
i wish i could have that feelin' back

nothin' feels better
than when you feel sure of a feelin'
that makes you feel content and complete
i felt that way again
i am so glad i went to visit where our happiness was left
i have a tear that takes me there
if only i could have that feelin' back

------- Author's Notes -------

went to touch that feelin' ,didn't expect to write 'bout it, guess it is a feelin' i want preserved.
