When I Don't Hear From You
1 July, 2005

vinebar

every day
there are a few things in my life
that never change
more so when i do not hear from you
after i've said some thing ignorant

you become so distant and too busy
to share a few moments on the phone with me
my thoughts punish me
thinkin' the worst of why your not callin' me

but still i wake up late at night
before i get ready for work
i say my nightly prayers
placin' my shift into Gods hands

sweet thoughts of you press
gently against my heart and mind

and every mornin' at the end
of my 12 hour shift
before i head for home
i chat with my patients that i leave behind

sometimes it's sad cause a few i know,
i will not see when i come back
yet i still want them to feel my touch as i feel theirs

i clock out
head down towards the cafeteria
for a cup of coffee
sit and visit with a friend
allow my body to wind down

head to the parkin' garage
same old routine
the best part is that
i find myself faced
with the same lovin' thoughts
of you, seepin' in deeper into my heart

other things in my life do change
but my thoughts and love
continue to remain the same

i take a long hot shower
wrap my hair and self
in two separate towels

i relax with a small glass of wine
i lay your heart right next to mine

lay myself upon our bed
and take the thoughts of you
that dance 'round n my head
straight into a dream

sweet dreams and touch of you appear
and never part
as i bring you closer to my heart

i cain never seem to get enough
when i do not hear from you
keepin' you close to my heart
is just another way
of showin' you my love
