Restless Spirits

Restlessness consumes me, my spirit longs to explore.
My life is stable, everything is going great, yet still, I long for more.
I have a great guy, he wants me to become his wife.
But I’m anxious and apprehensive, craving something else in my life.

It’s the first time I have even admitted it; it’s so much easier to write.
But how would I tell him that, one who thinks for love you must fight?
I love him with all I’ am, but some unseen force calls for me everyday.
To abandon my current life, to learn and see new places, basically to throw everything away.

He is the love of my life; it’s not possible to stay apart,
But I crave freedom and something more within my heart.
The call of my heritage, the mysteries of the past,
I want to travel and learn, make memories that will last.

There is much out there for me, I feel it within my soul,
But I refuse to leave all this, if losing him is the toll.
I’ am torn between staying and living as a predictable wife
Or roaming the earth as a traveler, consumed with acquiring knowledge of life.

He refuses to leave all that he has and all that he has gained
But I cannot stay if in the long run, all I will cause him is pain.
Perhaps then I am selfish, if I want to leave but cannot let him go,
I suppose with the journey called life, you never know.

Both paths tempt strongly, how am I to choose?
Regrets foreshadow my future, either way I ‘am afraid I will lose.
