The Wedding

And I thought I would never again,
See such beauty as when she walked down the aisle,
A rose behind her ear,
I couldn’t help but smile,

A beautiful day,
In which any would gladly be wed,
Everyone full of hope and joy,
All understood though nothing was said,

The stage was set; the organs were playing,
Groom, bridesmaids, and the best man,
All looked on in astonishment,
When the bride turned and ran,

The sky turned grim,
As our hearts turned from warm to outrageous,
She continued to run,
As if we were contagious,

Now, I sit,
On these hard steps of stone,
Staring at the night sky,
With no one to call my own,

Worst day of my life,
Some would proclaim,
We were all affected,
Never to be the same,

My heart goes in surges,
As I remember the day,
When my heart was left in shambles,
I cannot forget it try as I may.

Very Sad

Good write Will, but it's sad that the bride and groom to be, didn't make it happen because the bride ran away. This eminds me of Runaway Bride. If this isn't fiction, I'm sorry that this has happened to you. And if you ever find that special someone again, sit her down and ask her if she will follow through with walking down the aisle with you, because I don't think anyone can have their heart broken twice. Very good emotions expressed Wil!
