The Dream Of Being Immortal
Author: ShyHeart

vinebar

One night I prayed, God let me live forever, I love her so
God replied, can you survive immortality, If I give it to you?
I said yes, I will love her forever as she loves me for eternity
Then, God said, I grant your request for immortality, behold

As the years passed she became old and feeble, then one night
She said to me, I remember when you said you loved me and
Ask me to be your wife, I said yes and after all these years
You look the same, our children have children, yet, you look the same

As I lay on God's bed, I want you to know, my love for you is immortal
My love will never die, and as she tried to smile in my arms, she slipped away
I cried, as I saw our children one at a time, follow her to a peaceful sleep
Yet, I am blessed with immortality, and my heart weeps, but it never sleeps

One night I prayed, God let me live forever, I love her so
God replied, can you survive immortality, if I give it to you?
I said yes, I will love her forever as she loves me, for eternity
Then God said, I grant your request for immortality, behold

Immortal?

Very good write. but I wouldn't want to be immortal. Every body I know and love will leave and then I would be alone. but can understand why some would like to live forever , just not me.

You Are The Hammer, On The Nail

Again, you understand my immortality, you hit, the nail on the head! love is now and forever, it has nothing to do with immortality! Being immortal is like a farmer trying to raise a family he loves and all he gets, for his efforts is dust, there is no rain, just love.

more credit thans due

You give me more credit than I deserve. What I got from the poem is the writer wants to live forever . and my comment was not me. If this had something to do about love I missed the point sorry. good writing
