Flew Away

An inner glow fills me tonight,
my clipped wings spring free as I prepare to take flight.
Into the big wide world that's just waiting for me,
to show it what I'm made of and all that I can be.

The world is my oyster though they make me go ew!
I'm going to grab the bull by the horns and show it what I can do.
For the courage I lacked, I now have an ample amount,
so much so that that high I cannot count.

No more do I need my battles for me to be fought,
I passed the school of life where I was expertly taught.
A challenge doesn't scare me any longer,
if I fail, I'll try again it will only make me stronger.

I can do anything that I put my mind towards,
my blinkers tell me the only way from here is for-wards.
One step at a time with a breath inbetween,
steady with the beat of the drum as the light I've now seen.

Not going to beat myself up anymore,
I forgot what I used to cry for.
Tears of pain are out droplets of joy take their place,
should pain beckon me I'll say there's no space.

For I am full up on things that make me smile,
since I cracked a grin it's been quite a while.
So I leave my old life behind me and command it to stay,
as from all the heartache it's high time I FLEW AWAY?!
