Me Kettle

Other children had such things as dolls or teddybears,
but I had something different when it was time to go upstairs.
Their favourite thing was soft and cuddly but mine was made of metal,
you see there was only one thing that could get me out of my fettle.

My Nanna gave it to me to play with one day,
but in my heart forever it would stay.
It was old, it was rusty and used no more,
but with all my heart I'd learn to adore.

This piece of metal that I'd been given when I was young,
where as other kids had Teddybear Ruxpins that sung.
But no cuddly toy would do the trick for me,
this was the only thing that was my cup of tea.

For hours I'd play with it til my heart's delight,
then in my bunnysuit I'd take it to bed with me at night.
I couldn't have been more than two years old,
but that was my toy that all night I'd hold.

My tiny hand would hold its handle playing with it hour after hour,
I even took it in the bath, we never had a shower.
Grown ups tried to tempt me and take it away from me,
with a doll that when you fed her she would start to pee.

I remained loyal to my friend coloured grey,
but when I was four they took it away.
They couldn't fathom why I cried for a bit of metal,
but with all me heart I loved ME KETTLE!!!
