Still Around

In the silence here I lay,
engulfed in seconds with dismay.
Teardrops fall from stubborn eyes,
hopelessly I fail to stop my cries.

Back down I've fallen or so it seems,
as I lose sight of now broken dreams.
Scrambling for a shred of my dignity,
but I fail to find the strength in me.

Was it stolen or did I simply misplace?
The essence of me that helped me to face.
Adversities that came my way,
my own strength keeping them at bay.

An alien picture I now see,
as everything is changing around me.
Old colours painted on my canvas so white,
dimming my light that shines so bright.

The smallest of a flicker I see deep within,
which begs the question can I really win?
Stubborn eyes refuse more tears to fall,
as around my heart there builds a wall.

Protection as I hear pain beckon to me,
promising to never let me be.
I walk away in the belief I'll not be found,
but in my heart I sense it's STILL AROUND?!?!
