Some Things Never Change

I ain't an escapee, mama,
I don't want to run away.
I want to feel all,
I want to know all.
Don't hold me if I fall,
These are lessons of life,
These are lessons for life.

Moments of pain you went through,
Some sufferings, some failures too,
Has made you a paranoid.
I don't want to be another you, mama.
If you hold,
I may never learn.
I may never learn, mama,
To walk, to fight, to stand,
For what I believe in.

Your beatific, motherly wings,
Can't shield my heels of Achilles,
You're Demeter, the Mother.
But I don't want to be another Perserphone, mama.
If you hold,
I may never know.
I may never know, mama,
To perceive them with my own eyes,
Petit truths you think're astringent.
I want to feel all,
I want to know the world.
Don't lick my wounds, mama
These are landmarks of life,
These are landmarks for life.

I ain't an escapee, mama,
I don't want to run away.
I want to feel all,
I want to know all.
Don't hold me if I fall,
These are lessons of life,
These are lessons for life.
And I'm learning them my own way,
Bit by bit.
