Where Did The Time Go?

So here I lay tossing and turning,
the things that you said to me always burning.
Way in the pit of me where my tears for you lay,
not visible to the human eye so there they will stay.

Slowly but surely they seep through my being,
only at night as I don't want anyone seeing.
The mess you left my foolish heart in,
which was untouched but now has a centre parting.

Right down the middle where you broke me in two,
swore that love me you just couldn't do.
Explain that to the kid in me that worshipped the ground you walked on,
say it down the phone that for months we talked upon.

Make it clear to my heart there's no other way around it?
others have been where we are and still haven't found it.
Maybe then I'll understand why you set me free?
snatched my heart and tore it up in front of me.

Cut you some slack is what I will do,
as I understand that you're hurting too.
I realise some time ago our love bit the dust,
so I've decided that move on now I must.

I've clung to being loved for more than long enough,
so it's time I sought out the part of me that's really tough.
It's been here all along I just didn't know,
has it really been three year gosh, WHERE DID THE TIME GO?!?!
