Wonderous

In this life, so often solitary for so many, I have found you.
You are rare metal, shimmering and precious.
You are solid earth, holding me firmly when I most need your strength.
You are my secret smile when it seems there
would be nothing to cause such sudden mirth.
For me you are the sun, my most golden light at the end of a weary day.
With you the world seems to have a greater clarity,
each particular aspect of nature standing out as a gift,
all those things which gleam brighter and
feel more wondrous when painted with the tint of love:
the unmarred blue of a summer sky,
a graceful horizon on a distant beach,
the singular beauty of the stars and the moon,
a harmony of infinite winged insects glowing
or buzzing or singing to the warm, still night.
They are all for us to be shared and enjoyed together.
This is my journey with you and it seems
my eyes are open for the very first time.
So I give my hand to you, and the gentle part
which is my heart and soul entwined.
I give myself to you sincerely, solemnly and unreservedly.
All I possess and all I am are now for you.
I will be your love and you mine and from this day forward
you shall live within me and I will live within you,
dwelling for the rest of our days in the love we have kindled together.
