I Am A Pitbull

I am a PitBull...
Not many get good owners like me
But because of the bad owners not many people like me...
When I am outside people see me-
And they run away like I'm some kind of Beast..
Some kind of Monster...
I'm just a puppy! All I wanna do is play!
How can they be afraid of me!!
Well...I am a PitBull
So loving, caring, friendly, and understanding!!!
I wouldnt even hurt a fly!
Yes I am protective of my owners and property,
but isnt everydog like that?
It's our natural instinct...
I wouldnt hurt anyone not even if they hurt me...
I am a PitBull
My Breed will come back you just wait and see!!!!

------- Author's Notes -------

I do own a pitbull and she is the most loving dog you could ever have, if people would just see how pitbulls really are for themselves instead of believing what they hear and see on the news, etc.

My pitbull is 8 months old and people are afraid of her?

she isnt even that big of a dog she's only 70 pounds and 23 inches tall.. thats it. I've seen golden retrievers that are bigger than that!!!

But pitbulls are coming back day by day!

I can understand what your saying in your poem, I have owned 2 pitbulls in my life, and they were 2 of the greatest dogs I ever owned, I think the way a dog turns out is up to the owner. Alot of ppl use pits for fighting, and that is wrong, But to me I think it's all in how you raise your dog to be, and that is for any kind of breed. Great use of words on this poem, truly enjoyed!

oh ya, I respect them!

Went to someone's house once. They had a pitbull who played with their 3 yr. old daughter. I palyed with it too. It got rougher & rougher, then it grabed my upper arm and helded it. Hey lady! Ahh could you tell your dog to let go. He let go, but could of bit by arm off with one crunch. I respect them! Even if they are friendly. Thanks, nice poem Melissa.

yes i could get my pitbull to let go, she plays rough but she never gets that rough - it is all on how you raise them. i am raising my pitbull as i would any other dog - she knows she is a pitbull but she knows she is just like every other dog out there. she's just like them!

..

Rofl! Sorry, just the title brought a smile to my face. I thought it was a (dare I say it..) cute poem, but one that is very much true. A lot of people nowadays stick to stereotypes, it really bugs me..

Thank you

My boyfriend and I own a 6 month old Pitbull named Jada. I have never had such a devoted, well manered, kind, and caring dog. I don't understand how people can be so ignorant towards a breed. Pitbulls are truely a great family companion.

Give 'em a chance

I am so relieved to know that there are still people that aren't prejudiced against this amazing breed!!! Hopefully everyone will join me in the battle to keep pits around!!!

I was afraid for my granddaughters

When my daughter told me they got a pitbull.I must admit I was upset. Then I saw the way he was with the kids I changed my mind. They went to visit their great grandmother and she has a small poodle but it yapped and growled at the kids all the time they were there. On the way home the kids said they were afraid of the dog.So poodles are nasty with kids.So that's right it coud be any breed.good message melissa

great poem

i love my red nose pitty, and people need to see that it's the owner not the breed!
Angela (24.58.81.61) -- Friday, December 25 2009, 10:58 pm

That is right

Pitbulls are not bad at all! It is the way ppl treat em. Most ppl abuse, or put pitbulls in dog fights because of their breed. and it really isnt fair. I rescue the breed so they dont get put to sleep. I see pits on the street all the time and i walks slowly up to em and i dont care if they bite me because they are scared i just keep my hand in their mouth to let them know i wont harm them

Go Pitties!!!!!!!

My pittie is a great dog! heck he`s even more well-behaved than my aussie is! We rescued both of them from abuse. I think until there aren`t any more animals in shelters ppl should stop breeding them!!! it`s not fair to any of them! Even when ppl know that pits are euthanized each yr in shelters they still buy from stupid breeders!! ADOPT DON`T SHOP!
