At Night

Night draws in as I lay here alone,
Soon I’ll sleep thinking about you,
Another you need; our love was not meant to be,
Thinking about that first day,
Thinking about your kiss that melted my heart,
Remembering the way you held me close and tight,
As my eyes now close my thoughts come to life,

I see your head on my pillow,
Your eyes open wide looking into mine,
Let me see your soul as once was promised,
Let me see the sparkle now lost,
Did you plan it this way?
That we would never be,

Mountains of lies I’ve been told before,
Never thought I’d add your name,
I remember we shared so much love,
I felt the passion from your heart,
Now it’s frozen and we’re apart,
Did I lie that drove you away?
Did I hurt you in anyway?

Everyday I feel your kiss,
Everyday I hear your heart,
Everyday your soul cries,
Everyday in some way you still care,
Tell me I’m wrong,
As I lay here alone with you asleep at my side.
