Feeling Old
22 March, 2006

vinebar

Living only for the moment
when I was young and free.
Running through the midnight hours
that's how it use to be.

Now I'm getting older
much older now to run.
So I will grow flowers
and gaze at the yellow sun.

My days are now limited
to what I can, and cannot do.
So no more running wild, and free
those younger days are through.

But my mind it does travel
far away from here.
I travels to those days
those days I hold so dear.

And I smile to know
these places that I've been.
When I get to feeling old
I'll think of them again.

------- Author's Notes -------

I will be 33 years old March the 24th, but I act like I am
100... lol, but I do miss being young at the age I am. when you have kids, work, and everything else your days feel limited. I think I am just depressed because I am turning a year older. I have done spotted a few grey hairs, and now gone to dying my hair...I know I am being a big baby but getting old does scare me.

Signs of Wisdom

Tammy, those grey hairs are a sign of wisdom. All the same, thank God for Clairol :) I do understand what you're saying. Though I am much older than you, certain ages were harder to deal with. 35 was a tough one for me. 45 was even more so with not just grey hairs but wrinkles too. Now 50ish with a changing body that I swear belongs to someone else :) I have finally come to embrace aging. What you're experiencing is positively normal, though it doesn't feel that way when your in the midst of it. Happy Birthday in advance! Don't be afraid of aging, with the years comes the freedom to be who you really are. Thanks for sharing.

I'll trade with you!!!

I'll be 48 in May, and I'd kill to go back to 34. If it helps, you can take my place and see that getting older isn't so bad, it's LOOKING old that's so hard to deal with!!! Enjoy those kids, while they are still kids. They don't stay young for long. Don't blink, honey, you'll catch up with me, before you know it. Live every minute, like it's your last day on earth. And Happy Birthday! Celebrate you, 'cos you're a great person!
