Goodbye Daddy

Goodbye daddy, it's time
for me to move on.
I have finally faced the truth
you are forever gone.

I'm giving up on you
my search will now cease.
I will now forget you
and try living with ease.

I don't know why I even care
your nowhere to be found.
I have hunted for you
like a damn bloodhound.

But I have never had any luck
finding you dear dad.
And it is truly heartbreaking
it's made me very sad.

But anger has taken control
and my search is now through.
If you ever cared at all
I wouldn't have to search for you.

You would of stayed in my life
no matter what the cost.
But now it's to damn late
Goodbye daddy, it's your loss.

------- Author's Notes -------

I have searched for my birth-father for many years now,
and never had any luck. And the bad thing is, he worked with two of my uncles a few yrs back, and he never once asked about me, or my sister. So now I am finally giving
up on him.......it's his loss.

You're right, Tammy

It IS his loss. Please know that whatever his issue is/was about abdicating his responsibility, it had NOTHING to do with you, or your sister. All that's important is that you and she are here. Your heart and talents bring something good into the world, and we appreciate that you share them with us.

It can't be easy,

but it's good that you can see clearly enough to reach closure on a sad situation. You and your sister missed the father-daughter relationship that some take for granted, but your writing shows intelligence, a good sense of values, and talent. These qualities will serve you well in life.

Thank you both for reading, and commenting. For years I made myself forget about it, then I wanted to know him, So I began my search, and ended up with no luck finding him. It was truly a heartbreaking experience. Then come to find out he had been living in NC were two of my uncles lived, and worked with them both. He never once asked about my sister, and I. So I never told about my searching for him. I was hurt, and very angry. And right now I am having so many mixed feelings for him.

what a good write

Tammy you have the right attitude. He missed out on knowing a loving, warm, person. Maybe it,s a good thing you didn,t find him, you are hurting because he was cold, towards you and your sister without even knowing you. So imagine how much pain he would cause you guys if he was in your lives. good expressions in your writing.
He is doing you two a favour. lol
