Crocodile Hunter
Author: Capricorn

He wrestled deadly snakes and crocodiles,
confronting danger, dodging every bite
with skill. ‘Crikey’ – he’d cry, his eyes alight
with zeal, his viewers’ gasps then turned to smiles.
Enthusiasm oozing for his cause,
he masterminded Queensland’s Wildlife Park.
That day, he cruised The Reef to snap a shark,
a stingray underneath; this was no Jaws,
for scuba divers have been known to ride
upon the ocean 'pussy cat'. What scared
that ray to thrust its weapon, undeclared,
and pierce the legend’s heart? A fateful tide
upsurged too soon and though this twist was cruel,
his spirit soars - fist high - and roars, “Crocs rule!”

Hi Barb

Yes -- I enjoyed his programmes. I suppose when you take those sort of risks, something will go wrong one day.
