Tea Bag

My heart beats faster and my soul feels like it could burst
Emotions taking the form of words gush out in a cloudburst
A need to express, a need to be heard
Brought on by the joys and perils of planet Earth
Like a tea bag exposed to boiling water
Emotions seep through my paper thin skin and flavor the water
They may be blissful or melancholy
Always passionate but sometimes bawdy
But if I write I feel it
If painful, the words can heal it
But no matter the emotion I won't conceal it
Maybe my writing doesn't touch you
So I guess it's good I write for me ...not you
All I ask is that you listen and try to understand
To how my soul conveys feelings through my hands
The words pour on to the paper, never in vain
And when it's all done I'm a little more sane
So take it all for whatever you like
Because every line is another chapter of my life

N.O.

Hey Nathan Ortberg! Didn't realize your name spelled "no" until I initialized it...lol. Beautiful comparison! Your title made me grin before I clicked into your poem here. "Like a tea bag exposed to boiling water..."

It's a wonder what a pencil and a piece of paper can do....it conveys more than the voicebox...

I feel the same way Nathan! I felt this one! Nicely done!
