So Proud

Miracles come and go often unseen by you or me
Then one day years ago you were born into a family of love
Wanted by many but a miracle given to only us
Tears fell from my eyes not knowing why
My heart now beats with yours full of love in a special way
From the first diaper I changed and first bath I gave
A bond between us already made
Each feed I held you dear talking about days to come
Playing with toys we laughed all day
While talking on a phone with no cord stories were made
Each day you grew not seen by my eyes
You crawled exploring areas never seen
Biting my finger now with teeth I cried
As years fly by you remain my baby girl
Then at school you dressed so pretty
Photos taken warring a uniform of pink
New friends you picked as time past by
Walks to the park I still hear you laugh and play
A change of school more photos taken clear
More popular you are with your caring voice
Watching you grow I still see you my baby girl
Now thirteen and you think you’re grown
There’s still a long way to go you see you’re still my little girl
My heart still beats feeling you near
As you grow my love grows more each day for you
I know you’ve grown tall but still I see you my baby girl
A proud Daddy I was then and still am today
Of a girl I’m gifted to call my daughter Amy-Louise

And you probably always will

see her as your "baby", no matter her physical age. Your love and pride is overflowing for all who read to see in another fine poem.
