Searching For My Fear - 2
27 January, 2007
Author: Pondering Red
Walkin' around
my part of town-
Walkin' around
familiar streets,
alleys I used to
wander sneakily through.
Walkin' around
the same old sidewalks -
the old park -
the old grandmother trees,
they know me -
my childhood secrets.
I see few people today.
I find colours on the houses -
even on this
drab dull
january afternoon.
Memorys seep through
my very being.
Memorys pass by
and leave into
the darkened alleyways.
so close to my old home -
so far away
in time
and experience
and memorys
get twisted
like the gnarled roots
of the tree trunks.
My old part of town -
it hibernates -
subtle changes -
the scents I sometimes recall,
the path
to my
deepest rooted fear
is here -
somewhere -
so close - so far -
These streets haunt me.
