Sounds like you're teed off. Wanna talk about it? Although I can't really do anything but listen like in your previous poem title. LOL. The three R's you stated will indeed suffice. Responsibility - domestically. Reliabiliity - relationship. Respectability - attitude.

Barb, one can learn a lot from marital books that help to build healthy relationships. They break down so much like silent treatment vs. communication, accusation vs. denial, insecurity vs. protection....intimacy...stuff like that.

They also talked about readiness and intimacy...

I did an essay last year on a topic similar to Mars and Venus. However, there are some thinks books cannot help you with. It depends on the individual yourself and the individual you married. Whether you are willing to agree, admit, submit, support, compliment, sympathize, change, etc.

I'm might just go back and re-check all five books out for future purposes...to better understand some marital points they discuss.

I like YOUR 3 R's
Maybe if we focused on teaching our children these as much as we do the first three (reading, writing and arithmetic)the divorce rate wouldn't be so high and we'd all have better quality and happier lives. Very strong words and message!

Yeh not enough importance put on respect and the other day by day items. The lack of common decency is probably why our marriages or relationships don't last.
