Things Worth Fighting For
9 March, 2007

I'm standing in the cold
with the wind eating
at my hands and face
listening to my friends
tell stories of home
and the plans they made
for when they get back.

If.

Everytime I press
a cigarette to my lips
it's a struggle to breathe.

Not because of the smoke,
but because of the
enourmous weight
on my shoulders.

Out of the corner
of my eye I see something
that I haven't seen in weeks.

Slowly I turn
towards the sun
and take another drag.

The sun quickly fades,
but that's all I needed.

It gives me hope that
there is still beauty
in this world and
that there are things
worth fighting for.

With one last drag
I pick up my rifle.

Superb Write!

Makes me think of what is running on the author's mind. The essence of the uncertainty adds to the thrill and leads to imaginative thoughts to the reader. As the title goes, it is really worth fighting.

so good

I got from this that you were in a war having to protect yourself and country, and with all the destruction around you,you still found beauty. That was my interpretation of the write. Right or wrong in my mind it was beautiful. thanks

.

Thank you very much. I'm kinda at a loss for words at the moment. When I say that I mean I write a lot, but no finished products. More soon though.
