Hunger

My heart burns
Hungers for what the fates have so far
Denied me
I close my eyes and all I see are pillars gold
Which hold up my dreams and my needs
I hunger for what the fates have so far kept in the keep

Hunger for what the fates have been so insistent
That they will keep from me
I see my needs streak across the night sky
And I hate to say I feel so alone
Kept company by she who only needs me
Because I offer advice for what she really needs
And this thing is simply not me

My blood thunders for that absolution
That God has promised me for so long
My heart flies with the wind
And for once I feel so free
Free from the chains that bind me
Those who I thought made my link
Dissolved into strands of nothingness
Even as a cold emptiness filled my troubled spirit
My heart longs for it all
Even as I am bathed by the light from
The rising sun
