Insomnia Sunrise

The lack of light hangs heavy-
Filling the night with energy.
The anticipation chokes out the sound,
Cradling the empty streets in silence.
The night is pregnant in wait.

I have impregnated the sky.

Streaks of the artist's brush-
Strokes of yellow and orange.
Nature gives a united sigh of relief
As their burden is released to the world.
Bursts of laughter in a dark world.

The color of life, unscripted.

The messy afterbirth of the sky slowly fades-
Swallowed by the growing solemnity of the sky.
Turning back to my dark house, windows like sockets of a bleached skull,
I carry in my head the image of the child I just birthed,
The child we all share.

Relish the day.

She is my baby.
