Oh, that I could make her see,
that they are them, and I am me.

You can not see what life will bring.
'Tis all intent, and a promised thing.

I have some power, this is true,
but make her whole? I can not do.

A stupid man, they say I'm not.
Perhaps foolish man,- oh well, so what?

If all the world I analyze,
could I see her soul with these jaded eyes?

Not all things are understood,
Enough to say, "I know I would."

Oh, that I could make her see,
that they are them, and I am me.
